Millie's Goldendoodles

Frequently Asked Questions

All of our breeding dogs are tested for DNA, OFA hips, OFA elbows, OFA patella's, OFA cardiac and CAER (eye clearance). We make every effort possible to ensure you will receive a perfectly healthy puppy and as a result provide a 2-year health guarantee. Of course you can't guarantee life doesn't happen, but our goal is to make sure they are as healthy as possible, and to not breed for anything that could potentially be avoided.

At Millie’s Goldendoodles, our puppies are raised in our home with love, care, and intentional, age-appropriate experiences. From an early age, they are introduced to Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), sound stimulation, gentle handling, and positive socialization to help build confidence as they grow. We provide daily affection, enrichment, and gentle introductions to crate training and potty routines. Our puppies also receive quality nutrition, regular veterinary care, and plenty of individual attention to help prepare them for a smooth transition into their forever homes.

Puppy selection is done at 6-7 weeks. We know waiting to choose your puppy can feel like a long time—but there’s a very good reason for it. Puppies change dramatically from week to week, and choosing too early can lead to mismatches in personality, energy level, or temperament. You may fall in love with the cutest little guy at 2 weeks old, only to discover at 7 weeks that his personality is completely different from what you hoped for in a family companion.

Bringing home a puppy is a lifetime commitment, and we want to give every family the best chance of choosing a puppy whose temperament truly fits their home and lifestyle. Waiting until this age allows us to give you the most accurate picture of who each puppy is becoming.

By this age each puppy visits our veterinarian for:

  • Their first set of immunizations
  • Microchip placement
  • A complete health exam

This also allows us time to get to know each puppy's personality, which provides valuable insight into which puppy will be the best fit for your family. Before families make their selection, we share everything we’ve learned—vet findings, personality notes, and any traits that may or may not be ideal for your home environment. Our goal is to help you make the most informed, confident decision possible.

We promise—the wait is worth it.

Families are welcome to visit our home on Puppy Pick Day to choose in person, or we can schedule a FaceTime call for a virtual pick if that’s more convenient. Puppy picks are completed in the order of the waitlist deposit.

Doodles are a designer breed therefore can't be registered with AKC. Our Goldendoodles are registerable through GANA (Goldendoodles of North America).  We are proud to be a member of  GANA because of the testing requirements that they have for all breeding dogs on the registery.  This gives you the knowledge that you are getting a top quality puppy.

Our puppies usually go to their new homes at 8+ weeks old.  This may vary from time to time depending on the litter and how they are gaining weight and progressing.  We would never want to send a puppy home to early, but we also understand the excitement and importance of getting them to their new family as soon as possible.

There are a variety of sizes of Goldendoodles.

We offer mini (14 -17 inches at the withers, typically 26-35 lbs)

medium (18-21 inches at the withers, typically 36-50 lbs)

Our litters typically range from 6-8 puppies.

What Do Goldendoodle Generations Mean?

If you’ve been researching Goldendoodles, you’ve probably come across terms like F1, F1B, F2, and multigenerational. These labels describe how a Goldendoodle was bred and offer helpful clues about its genetic background.

However, generation alone does not guarantee a particular coat type, shedding level, size, or temperament. Understanding the differences can help you ask the right questions when choosing a puppy.

F1 Goldendoodle -

50% Golden Retriever / 50% Poodle

An F1 Goldendoodle is the result of crossing a purebred Golden Retriever with a purebred Poodle. This is the first-generation cross between the two breeds.

F1 Goldendoodles benefit from genetic diversity, often referred to as hybrid vigor. Their coats and shedding levels can vary, even among puppies in the same litter.  They are generally more likely to shed than the Multigen because they are less likely to inherit the furnishings gene associated with reduced shedding.

F1B Goldendoodle

Typically 75% Poodle / 25% Golden Retriever when backcrossed to a Poodle

An F1B Goldendoodle is created by breeding an F1 Goldendoodle back to one of its original parent breeds—a Poodle or a Golden Retriever.

The most common F1B pairing is an F1 Goldendoodle bred to a Poodle, resulting in approximately 75% Poodle and 25% Golden Retriever. This cross is often chosen to increase the likelihood of certain low-shedding coat traits, although shedding is never guaranteed by generation alone.   F1B Goldendoodles can still shed if they do not inherit complete furnishings (the characteristic facial hair, eyebrows, and beard). While backcrossing to a Poodle increases the likelihood of a lower-shedding coat, it does not guarantee complete furnishings or minimal shedding.

Multigenerational Goldendoodles

Goldendoodles from established Goldendoodle lines

Multigenerational Goldendoodles are produced through additional generations of Goldendoodle-to-Goldendoodle breeding. These pairings may include F1B, F2, and other Goldendoodle generations.

Responsible breeders may selectively pair dogs over multiple generations to work toward desired traits, such as coat type, size, and temperament. However, the term “multigenerational” does not automatically mean a puppy will be low-shedding or have a particular coat.

At Millie’s Goldendoodles, we believe it’s important to look beyond the generation label. We encourage families to learn about the individual parents, their health testing, coat traits, and temperaments when considering a litter.

A Note About Shedding and Coat Type

No Goldendoodle generation can guarantee a completely non-shedding or allergy-friendly dog. Coat traits vary, and even puppies from the same litter may develop differently as they mature.

If coat type or shedding is an important consideration for your family, ask your breeder about the parents’ coats, relevant coat genetics, and what they have observed in previous litters.
